As well as tracking the emails you've sent, Mailtrack for Gmail can also tell you when emails you've received from other people have been tracked!
When you receive a tracked email, Mailtrack will add a green dot next to it in your inbox.
If you hover the mouse over the green dot, a tooltip will appear advising you that the mail includes tracking.
You can turn off this feature in your Mailtrack settings.
What is an email tracker?
Email marketing and outreach software use email tracking technology to tell their users if their emails have been opened. In the case of Mailtrack, we use pixel-based tracking.
When you send an email, Mailtrack automatically adds a tracking pixel (a really small image) to that email. Then, when it is opened the tracking pixel is downloaded and sends a call to our servers to let us know the mail has been opened.
How to track emails in Gmail?
While Google Workspace (formerly G Suite, Google's platform for professionals) offers a paid Gmail read receipt service to their clients, Mailtrack is free and is the most effective way to track your emails and links from Gmail (both for free and paid users of Google's services).
One of the main advantages Mailtrack's email tracker add-on has over G Suite's is that recipient's of Google's read receipt can opt not to send a read confirmation to the sender.
Mailtrack, when combined with Gmailify, is also an option for users of other email providers, particularly those who are looking for email tracking for Outlook.
