Mailsuite is one of the most reliable and accurate email tracking solutions on the market, and our reliability is much higher than our competitors. We continually improve our email tracking technology, however, there are some limitations that exist for all email tracking technologies (the limitations are not unique to Mailsuite).
There are some instances when email tracking technology may not function properly:
1) Emails to yourself don't work well.
Email trackers don't work well if you send a tracked email to yourself. If you wish to test if Mailsuite is working properly, send a test email to an email address that is different from the email account with Mailsuite enabled. In addition, use different devices to send the email with Mailsuite and to open the email.
2) A small percentage of users are not trackable.
In some cases, your email has been opened, but your email tracker still says it has not been opened. The main reason is that some email clients don't download images inside emails by default (e.g. Outlook), and some email services such as Yahoo and Protonmail also do not display images inside emails by default, so the Mailsuite pixel is not opened correctly. This problem not only affects Mailsuite, but for any email tracking software and email marketing tools. Without images, no email tracking is possible. In addition, privacy extensions and antiviruses may purposely block tracking pixels, and some users may opt out of tracked emails by disabling images.
3) Tracking pixels can't be placed in plain text emails.
Plain text emails cannot be tracked because they do not contain any images. Therefore, email tracking services cannot place their tracking pixel in plain text emails. To help you avoid this issue, Mailsuite will alert you that you are sending a plain text email before you send it.
4) Email forwards cannot be tracked.
With Mailsuite, you can see when and how often your recipient opens an email. However, if your recipient forwards your email to other people, those opens will be attributed to your original recipient. Due to privacy regulations, Mailsuite cannot tell you when your emails have been forwarded or to whom.
5) Some email apps and CRMs can trigger false opens.
Certain email applications and CRM platforms automatically preload email content, including images and tracking pixels, when a message is received or synced. For example, some email apps or certain CRM tools may generate multiple open events without the recipient ever manually opening the email. This can inflate your open counts and does not necessarily reflect genuine recipient activity.
6) Inbox preview panes can trigger open events.
If a recipient's email client displays a preview pane, the email content — including the tracking pixel — may be downloaded automatically when the message is highlighted or previewed. This can register as an open even if the recipient has not fully opened or read the email.
The situations above may affect the quality of your email tracking data, but every email tracker experiences these limitations.
Outside of these events, Mailsuite has developed one of the most accurate email tracking technologies available. In addition, Mailsuite also offers email tracking for mobile devices, which most competitors don't.
