A video message is a short recording of yourself, your screen, or both, that you send as a link instead of typing a long email. It's useful for walkthroughs, quick explanations, or anything that's easier to show than to write.
When someone watches your video, you can see how many times it was viewed and for how long, just like the opens on a tracked email.
Where to find it
You can start a video message from any of these places:
- In Gmail, from Compose: click the arrow next to Compose and choose Video Message.
-
In Gmail, from the Mailsuite button: click the floating Mailsuite button in the bottom-left corner of Gmail, then choose Video Message.
- In your Mailsuite dashboard: go to Tools → Video messages and click New video.
Record a video
- Choose what to record:
- Camera only: just your webcam.
- Screen & camera: your screen, with your webcam in a small bubble.
- Screen only: your screen, without your webcam.
- Click Start recording. If you're recording your screen, your browser asks which screen, window or tab to share.
- A short countdown appears so you can get ready, then recording starts.
- Click stop when you're done.
Videos can be up to 30 minutes long.
Send or save your video
When you stop recording, choose what to do with the video:
- Insert in new email: opens a new Gmail message with the link to your video already in it.
-
Get shareable link: saves the video and gives you a link (
mailsuite.com/video/...) that you can paste in an email, a chat or anywhere else. - Discard video: deletes the recording without saving it.
Note: If you record from the dashboard, there's no email to insert the video into. You'll see Download video instead of Insert in new email, so you can save the file to your computer.
See your videos and who watched them
All your saved videos are in your Mailsuite dashboard, under Tools → Video messages. Each one shows its thumbnail, name, date and length.
Click a video to open its page. There you can:
- Copy its shareable link.
- Change its title.
- See its views and seconds played.
- Check the View history: each time someone watched the video, and for how long.
- Watch the video.
- Delete it.
Views and seconds played update as people open the link and watch your video.
