Mailsuite sends emails through Gmail’s servers because they offer the best deliverability. This means Mailsuite has no control over Gmail’s sending limits and blocking policies. For this reason, please make sure you are aware of Gmail’s limits and policies.
Some common email errors you may receive when sending emails are the following: blocked, bounced, or rejected.
Blocked emails in Gmail
If Gmail detects any suspicious activity from your email address or domain, it may decide to block some or all of your emails from being sent. This is true even if the daily limit has not been reached. This restriction is imposed by Gmail on your account.
Unfortunately, Gmail does not give specific reasons for blocking your emails. This is mainly because Gmail does not want to give tips to offenders. It’s important that you follow email deliverability best practices and avoid spammy emailing tactics.
Maybe the recipient has flagged your email or your domain as spam in the past. Maybe your emails include some words that increase the spam score. Maybe your email includes a link to a domain with a bad reputation. It's impossible to know the exact reason. Gmail can block mass emails, but let through individual emails to the same recipients.
Gmail is constantly improving its system to detect and block spam. We recommend not trying to circumvent Google's policies. Because what works now may not work in the future. If Google has mistakenly blocked your email sends, you'd need to contact Gmail directly.
Bounced emails
Bounced emails occur when the recipient email address you entered is either incorrect or does not exist anymore. Bounced emails are not a restriction imposed by Gmail. Some common causes of bounced emails are typos in the recipient's email address, like:
- Spaces at the beginning or end of the email address
- Quotation marks being copied and pasted with an email address
- Spelling errors
- Periods at the beginning or end of the email address
Ensure you don’t have any of the mistakes listed above in your recipient addresses. If you believe the email address to be correct, you could reach out to the recipient by using a different email address or through another means of communication.
It’s important that you don’t send too many bounced emails. This could signal to Google that you are sending large amounts of emails to people you don’t know, and too many bounced emails could lead to restrictions on your Gmail account.
Rejected emails
Rejected emails occur when your recipient’s email server rejects your email or Gmail is unable to connect to your recipient’s email server. In the second case, the issue is usually resolved quickly, so you can try sending your email again.
In the first case, you may have triggered the recipient’s spam filter or sent an email that does not comply with their inbox configurations. Some common reasons that email servers reject incoming emails include:
- Message text or links look suspicious
- You sent the email to a large group with CC or BCC
To avoid the first case, ensure you follow email deliverability best practices to avoid triggering spam filters.
In the second case, you can avoid using CC or BCC to send emails to groups by creating a Mailsuite Campaign. This allows you to send personalized emails to up to 10,000 recipients while following Gmail’s best practices and staying within all sending limits. This is because Mailsuite Campaigns use batch sending.
