Adding multiple recipients in the BCC field is a common method marketers use to send mass emails. However, this method poses several risks, such as:
- The email can seem impersonal: The recipient may think it's a mass email.
- The email may not land in the inbox: Emails often don’t end up in the recipient’s main inbox.
- The email can be ignored: This translates into low open rates and even fewer replies.
- Threads can become messy: Different conversations with different people in the same thread.
This is where Mailsuite’s Multisend feature comes in handy. It turns a mass email where all recipients are in the BCC field into a group of individually tracked emails, one per recipient. There are several advantages to sending with this method:
- Personalization: The recipients feel the email is addressed to them personally.
- More likely to land in inbox: Emails sent individually usually have a higher deliverability rate.
- More likely to get attention: Enjoy higher open rates and more replies with one-to-one emails.
- Split into individual conversations: Create different threads for different conversations to make individual conversations easier to follow.
To send to more people, or to personalize each email with your recipients' data, you can also send a Mailsuite Campaign. Campaigns can be sent to up to 10,000 recipients.
How to split BCC emails into individual emails
- In Gmail, compose an email as you normally would.
- Click Bcc and add all your recipients to the Bcc field.
- Check Multisend: split into individual emails, below the recipients.
- The compose window turns green to show that each recipient will get an individual email. Write your message and click Send.
How does email tracking work for Split emails?
When you send an email with Multisend, a tracked copy of the email is sent to each recipient. This means there will be as many individual emails in your Sent folder as recipients in the email.
This lets you track the opens of each recipient separately. Each tracked copy has the same notifications you configured in the compose window for a regular email.
What do recipients see?
Recipients can't see the other recipients of the email. They only see who sent it and their own email address in the To field, so you don’t accidentally share any email addresses with other recipients.
Scheduling a split email
- After you’ve written your email and turned on Multisend (see the steps above), click the arrow next to Send.
- Click Schedule tracked send.
- Choose when you'd like to send your emails and confirm.
- The scheduled email appears in the Mailsuite Scheduled folder in the Gmail menu until it's sent.
