Mailtrack works on your phone in two ways:
- The Mailtrack app: a standalone app for iPhone and Android. Every email you send from it is tracked automatically, and you get a push notification the moment it's opened. Works on phones and tablets.
- The Gmail add-on: adds Mailtrack inside the official Gmail app, if you'd rather keep writing from Gmail.
You can use both. If you're setting up Mailtrack on your phone for the first time, start with the app.
New to Mailtrack? Mailtrack® is the original email tracker for Gmail — free, unlimited, and part of Mailsuite.
Get the Mailtrack app
iPhone and iPad — Download on the App Store
Android — Get it on Google Play
In the store, look for Mailtrack® published by Mailsuite.
Then:
- Open the app and sign in with the Google account you use with Mailtrack.
- Allow notifications when your phone asks, so you find out the moment someone opens your email.
- Write and send. That's it — tracking is on by default.
What the app gives you
- Automatic tracking. Every email you send is tracked. Nothing to switch on per message.
- Real-time push notifications when your email is opened, a link is clicked or a file is viewed.
- Check marks in your inbox. One check means sent, two means opened. Tap them to see when and how many times.
- Per-recipient data on group emails, so you know exactly who opened.
- Link tracking and full open history over time.
Some of these depend on your plan. See Mailtrack plans.
Send your first tracked email from the app
- Tap the compose button.
- Write your email as usual and send it.
- Watch for the second check mark in your inbox — that's the open.
Install the Gmail add-on (optional)
The add-on puts Mailtrack inside the official Gmail app, so you can track a message without leaving Gmail. Tracking is per message: you turn it on before sending.
- Open the Mailtrack listing in the Google Workspace Marketplace, on your phone or your computer.
- Tap Install, then Continue in the pop-up.
- Choose the email account you want to use with Mailtrack.
- Tap Allow to accept the permissions.
- Fully close the Gmail app and open it again. Closing the window isn't enough — swipe it away from your recent apps, or restart your phone.

Before you install:
- Google's Gmail add-ons don't run on iPad, Android tablets, or a Samsung Fold Z in tablet mode. The Mailtrack app does (iPhone and iPad: Download on the App Store, Android: Get it on Google Play).
- The add-on needs Mailtrack installed in Chrome on your computer. The app doesn't.
App or add-on?
| Mailtrack app | Gmail add-on | |
|---|---|---|
| Where you write | In the Mailtrack app | In the Gmail app |
| Tracking | Automatic on every email | On per message |
| Push notifications | Yes | No |
| Tablets and iPad | Yes | No |
| Needs Mailtrack on your computer | No | Yes |
If you can, choose the app: it's more complete and more reliable.
